Ready, Set, Write: Building Confidence for On-Demand Writing

While writing warmups help students prepare for a writing task—much like stretching prepares the body for a challenging workout—many instructional contexts, including testing and formal assessments, do not allow for this support. In these situations, students are expected to engage in writing immediately, without the benefit of discussion, collaboration, or feedback. As a result, many students feel uncertain about how to approach these writing tasks, often finding them challenging to navigate without explicit instruction in writing warm up strategies. This workshop focuses on effective approaches that not only prepare students for writing assessments but also support the development of confident, capable writers.
