Teacher of Excellence
The Arizona English Teachers Association (AETA), your state affiliate of the Nation Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), wishes to recognize and celebrate high school classroom teachers. We invite educators to nominate fellow teachers or self-nominate to be considered for the AETA High School Teacher of Excellence Award. The teacher who is selected for this award will also be nominated for the NCTE High School Teacher of Excellence Award on behalf of the AETA for the 2023 NCTE Annual Conference.
All details and nominating criteria come directly from our parent organization, NCTE. AETA offers some financial assistance to the winner to attend the following year's NCTE Annual Convention.
The winner of the AETA High School Teacher of Excellence will also be recognized at the AETA Annual Conference on September 24th, 2022.
Award Details:
The recipient of AETA's award will also be recognized with a certificate at the Secondary Section Luncheon during the 2023 NCTE Annual Convention. Each recipient will be responsible for purchasing his or her own luncheon ticket (usually $50) and tickets for any guests.
Nominating Criteria:
The person nominating is responsible for submitting this Nomination Form, a Nomination Statement (no longer than 500 words), and the nominee's resume.
* Upon winning the award, the winner will also need to submit two (2) signed letters of support from at least two (2) different constituencies—principal, supervisor, chairperson, peer, parent, or student—about contributions in the classroom and excellent practices exhibited by the nominee.
Thank you for all that you do and we look forward to reviewing your nominations!
